METALWORK, COLLECTORS' ITEMS & WORKS OF ART

TOOVEY'S conduct sales of metalwork and collectors’ items every month. The section covers a broad and varied selection of different pieces, including bronze sculptures, light-fittings, luggage, biscuit tins, brass and copper ware, garden statuary, musical boxes, telephones, tole and Tunbridge ware.

Pictured right: well-detailed early 19th Century Napoleonic French prisoner-of-war model of H.M.S. Queen Charlotte.  Launched in 1789, this Royal Navy First Rate Ship-of-the-Line served as Lord Howe's flag ship at the Battle of the Glorious First of June in 1794.  In 1800 she was destroyed by fire whilst reconnoitring the Island of Cabrona.  Length 68cm excluding case. Sold for £15000.
