A French model 1831 infantry short sword or gladius by Pihet Freres, with typical wide-section double-edged blade, blade length 48.5cm, signed and detailed 'Chatellerault 1833', cast brass hilt, numbered '508' and '75R', with brass-mounted scabbard (later-covered tape binding to scabbard).
