Arthur Heyer – White Turkish Angora Cat and Kitten, late 19th/early 20th century oil on canvas, signed, 53.5cm x 67cm, within a swept gilt composition frame. Note: Born in Haarhausen, Germany, in 1872, Arthur Heyer studied at the College of Applied Arts in Berlin and in 1896 he relocated to Rakospalota, Hungary. Heyer's passion transitioned from landscapes to animal painting, with a pronounced fondness for representations of the Turkish Angora cat. Heyer produced numerous illustrations for publications by the Franklinische Verlag, Shver’s Familieblatt (Shver’s Family Magazine) and Uber Land und Meer (Over Land and Sea).
