An early Victorian Cornish needlework sampler by Mary Husband Hawken, aged 12 years, dated 1837, the pious verse above a country farmhouse, titled 'Treginnegar, St Ervan', flanked on the left by Adam and Eve beside an apple tree with serpent, on the right by a cow, birds and other animals, contained within an undulating strawberry border, worked with coloured silks and threads in cross stitch, approx 35cm x 29cm, within a gilt composition frame.
