BUTLER, Samuel. Hudibras. London: 1750. 12mo (128 x 76mm.) Portrait frontispiece. (Minor browning.) Contemporary sheep, bound for Chrétian François de Lamoignon, the flat spine gilt in seven unequal compartments, red calf lettering pieces to the second and last, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (spine slightly darkened). Provenance: Chrétian François de Lamoignon (1735-1789; Bibliotheca Lamoniana label to front paste-down with shelf reference 'Y537', ink notes to preliminary blank, ink-stamp to B6 and binding); James Toovey (unobtrusive bookseller ink-stamp to front-free endpaper); P.F. Vernon (bookplate dated 1954 to front-free endpaper).
