A Japanese Satsuma earthenware circular bowl by Matsumoto Hozan, Meiji period, the interior painted with a scene of two bijin and three children walking beside a stream with bamboo, peony and prunus, the exterior painted with a continuous iron red and gilt border of dense peony and chrysanthemum above birds flying over waves, iron red and gilt signature to base, diameter approx 12.5cm.
