DICKENS, Charles. The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby. London: Chapman and Hall, 1839. First edition in book form, early issue, 8vo (205 x 125mm.) Portrait frontispiece, 38 plates by 'Phiz' [H.K. Browne]. (Lacking half-title, some spotting and browning, heavy to title-page and plates, title-page somewhat creased, 3 plates torn and repaired, 1 plate torn with loss to margin, 1 other plate torn with substantial loss.) Modern half-calf over contemporary marbled boards (some scuffing). Note: p.123 has 'visiter' instead of 'sister'.
