LOT 431
A George V silver and enamel freedom box, the rectangular cover with engraved ribbon bow and acanthus swag beneath a scrollwork surmount inset with opposing enamel coat of arms and inscribed 'Borough of Colne 1927', the rectangular bombé shaped body inset with three enamel plaques painted with local buildings, including St Bartholomew's church and Colne town hall, within cast scrollwork frames, flanked by a pair of lion mask and ring handles, the rectangular base inscribed 'Presented to Miss Christina Martley J.P, of Southport, by the Town Council of the Borough of Colne, on her admission as an Honorary Freeman of the Borough on the 1st Day of June 1927', on turned feet, Birmingham 1926 by Vaughton & Sons, length approx 35.5cm, together with an ebonized stand.
