LOT 2782
A French Art Deco gilded phosphorus bronze and frosted glass forty-four light theatre chandelier, fitted with twenty upturned faceted branches, each supporting a globular shade and angular moulded glass panels decorated with flowerheads, centred by a circular domed shade below a tall cylindrical stem supported by a series of hexagonal shafts, total height approx 320cm, diameter approx 140cm. Provenance: this chandelier was one of a set installed in the Carlton Theatre, Haymarket, London, in the late 1920s. Images of the chandeliers in their original setting can be seen on the Theatres Trust website www.theatrestrust.org.uk. Note: the globular shades on this chandelier are later replacements.
