A Chinese export lacquer work box, first half of the 19th Century, of canted corner bombé form, the hinge lid decorated in gilt with a scroll shaped panel filled with a figural scene in an interior setting, supported by a pair of figures within floral and foliate borders and framed by further figural leaf and butterfly shaped vignettes, opening to reveal a compartmentalized removable tray, the sides similarly decorated and fitted with a frieze drawer, flanked by a pair of brass handles, on carved giltwood bat feet, length approx 39cm.
