A Chinese soapstone mounted rectangular box, 18th/19th Century, the hinge lid and sides inset with soapstone rectangular panels variously decorated in relief, incised and coloured with figural scenes, mythical animals, precious vessels, fruit and flowers, the lacquered hinge lid interior decorated with bird, butterfly and flowers, flanked by a pair of brass drop handles, length approx 47cm (some faults and losses), on a later wood stand with cabriole legs and pad feet.
