BEWICK, Thomas. A History of British Birds. Newcastle: 1832. 2 vols., 8vo (214 x 138mm). Wood-engraved title vignettes, numerous wood-engraved illustrations and decorations, all by Bewick, extra-illustrated with a loosely inserted early manuscript copy of a letter Bewick wrote to the editor of the 'Monthly Magazine'. (Lacking pp. 9-16 from vol. II, occasional light spotting). 20th Century half-calf. Provenance: Brent Gration-Maxfield (inscriptions, dated 1967). - And one other of related interest (3).
