[HAWKESWORTH, John, et al.] The Adventurer… the fourth edition. London: 1762. 4 vols., 12mo (175 x 97mm.) (Light browning, occasional minor soiling, some worm damage.) Contemporary calf, spines gilt in six compartments with raised bands, lettering pieces to second and third compartments, the others with repeat foliate decoration in gilt (extremities lightly bumped and scuffed, upper joints starting to split). Provenance: William Gill (ink inscription to front-free endpaper and title of vol. I); Frankland (armorial bookplate to front pastedowns).
