CALVIN, John. The Sermons of M. John Calvin Upon the Fifth Booke of Moses called Deuteronomie. London: Henry Middleton for John Harison, 1583. Folio (262 x 182mm.) Wood-engraved title vignette, decorative initials. (Lacking all leaves after Yyyyy6, title-page torn with loss and reinforced, some browning, soiling and old damp staining, iiii with small burn mark with loss, some marginal worm damage, T5 torn affecting text but without loss, ink marginalia to one leaf.) Old calf (head and foot of spine chipped with loss, endpapers replaced). STC4443. Provenance: John Charles Pinney (armorial bookplate to front pastedown); Joyce Cary (inscription dated 'Dec 1934'). - And one other volume by Diodore De Sicile ('Diodori Siculi Bibliothecae historicae libri quindecim de quadraginta. Decem ex his quindecim nunquam prius fuerunt editi.' [N.p.:] Henricus Stephanus, 1559) (2).
