ELMES, James and Thomas SHEPHERD. Metropolitan Improvements; or London in the Nineteenth Century. London: Jones & Co., 1827-1829. 2 parts in 1 vol., folio (265 x 203mm.) Engraved decorative title to second part, 1 engraved plan, 160 engraved plates on 80 leaves. (Small tear to decorative title without loss, 2 plates torn without loss, light browning, spotting to plates, occasionally heavy.) Contemporary blue calf tooled in gilt and blind (extremities bumped and scuffed, spine coming away at head, joints splitting). - And six volumes bound as three, 'Old and New London' (4).
