A Japanese mother-of-pearl embellished ivory okimono figure group, Meiji period, modelled as a teacher and two boys, the two young students flanking their tutor, who sits pointing to the text in a book open on his lap, incised red lacquer signature plaque to base, height approx 27.5cm (minor losses and shrinkage crack to base).
