SCOTT, Robert F. The Voyage of the 'Discovery'. London: Smith, Elder, & Co., 1905. Second impression, 2 vols., 8vo (237 x 160mm.) 2 photogravure frontispieces, 12 colour plates, numerous uncoloured plates, 3 maps (1 double-page), 2 folding maps in pockets at rear. (Light browning some spotting, heavier to fore-edge.) Original blue cloth, embossed gilt medallions to upper-covers, spines gilt, t.e.g. (extremities bumped and scuffed, spines faded, some damp staining and minor soiling, hinges splitting) Spence 1051. Provenance: Comte René de Miremont (inscribed '42 Cadogan Place London S.W.' to front-free endpaper of vol. I and presented by 'AHP' inscribed to front-free endpaper of vol. II); Anna Helena Puckle (bookplates to front pastedowns); The Michael Gilkes Collection.
