FOLKARD, Henry Coleman. The Sailing Boat, a Treatise on Sailing Boats and Small Yachts… fifth edition. London: Edward Stanford, 1901. 4to (285 x 213mm.) Numerous uncoloured illustrations. (Some light browning and soiling.) Original pictorial cloth blocked in gilt (extremities bumped and scuffed, spine darkened, stitching weak). Provenance: London Corinthian Sailing Club (signed by twenty-six members to front-free endpaper). Together with an a.l.s. addressed to Michael dated '19.1.56' from his 'old friends at L.C.S.C.' discussing their wishes for him to return and sail with them in his 'usual boisterous manner as soon & as often as possible', (203 x 174mm.) Provenance: The Michael Gilkes Collection.
