[INGLIS, John]. A Yachtsman's Holidays or Cruising in the West Highlands, by the 'Governor'. London: Pickering & Co., 1879. First edition, 8vo (190 x 122mm.) Engraved frontispiece, 6 engraved plates, 16pp. advertisements at rear. (Light browning, some spotting to fore-edge.) Original blue pictorial cloth blocked in gilt and blind (extremities bumped and scuffed, minor soiling). Provenance: James Russell (signed and dated 'July 1879' to half-title); The Michael Gilkes Collection (bookplate to front pastedown). Note: Dr John Inglis was the head of A. & J. Shipbuilders, Glasgow; his pseudonym was a humorous reference to his lack of authority on board.
