TIPHYS, [Charles Penrose]. Practical Canoeing; a Treatise on the Management & Handling of Canoes. London: Norie & Wilson, 1883. First edition, 8vo (218 x 135mm.) Frontispiece, 4 full-page plates, illustrations, 18pp. advertisements and map at rear. (Light browning, occasional minor spotting or soiling, some staining to p.34.) Original blue pictorial cloth blocked in black and gilt (extremities bumped, reinforced with touches of recolouring to corners and head and foot of spine, endpapers browned). Provenance: The Michael Gilkes Collection.
