First edition, 2 vols., 8vo (223 x 147mm.) Colour frontispiece to vol. I, uncoloured frontispiece to vol. II, 2 folding maps, 21 uncoloured plates, numerous uncoloured illustrations. (Light browning, occasional minor spotting or soiling.) Original blue pictorial cloth blocked in black and gilt, t.e.g. (extremities bumped and lightly scuffed, spines darkened).
