BAXTER, W. British Phaenogamous Botany; or, Figures and Descriptions of the Genera of British Flowering Plants. Oxford: 1834-1843. 6 vols., 8vo (216 x 131mm.) 509 hand-coloured plates. (Light browning, marginal tear without loss to leaf opposing plate 26, marginal tear with loss to leaf opposing plate 430.) Contemporary half-calf, spine gilt in six compartments with raised bands, lettering piece to second compartment, lettered in the fourth, the others with repeat decoration in gilt (extremities lightly bumped and scuffed, joints neatly repaired, vol. I neatly rebacked with old spine laid-down). Provenance: Jessie Maunder (inscriptions to front free endpapers dated 'May 23rd 1845').
