BEWICK, Thomas. A History of British Birds. Newcastle: 1816. 2 vols., 8vo (212 x 122mm.) Wood-engraved title vignettes, numerous wood-engraved illustrations and decorations by Bewick. (Browning and spotting, sometimes heavy, marginal tear without loss to p.105 of vol. I.) Contemporary half-calf (extremities bumped and scuffed, rebacked with old spines laid-down, corners and hinges reinforced). Provenance: Thomas Beaumont (signature to title pages, armorial bookplate to front pastedowns). - And one other volume by Bewick ('A General History of Quadrupeds… the eighth edition'. Newcastle Upon Tyne: 1824) (3).
