BINDINGS. - Henry Thomas BUCKLE. History of Civilization in England... second edition. London: John W. Parker and Son, 1858. 2 vols., 8vo (214 x 132mm.) (Light browning, occasional minor spotting.) Near contemporary calf, by Zaehnsdorf, spines gilt in six compartments with raised bands, lettering pieces in the second, fourth and sixth compartments, the others with repeat decoration in gilt, gilt turn-ins, g.e. (extremities lightly scuffed). - And five other volumes of Buckle's works bound to match (including, 'Miscellaneous and Posthumous Works… in three volumes'. London: 1872; and Alfred Henry HUTH. 'The Life and Writings of Henry Thomas Buckle… in two volumes'. London: 1880). Provenance: F. Sims Williams (armorial bookplate to front pastedowns) (7).
