[HALE, Thomas.] Eden: Or, A Compleat Body of Gardening. Containing Plain and Familiar Directions for Raising the several useful Products of a Garden. London: T. Osborne et al., 1757. Folio (422 x 250mm.) Engraved frontispiece, 60 engraved plates. (Light browning and spotting, some marginal damp-staining, text leaf pp.157-158 lacking, plate 28 bound in place of plate 20, plate 26 half-detached.) Contemporary calf (bumped and scuffed, majority of spine lacking, joints split, stitching weak). Provenance: Mary Hartford (signature to front-free endpaper); Sam Baker Bowen (signature dated 1841 to front-free endpaper).
