London: Blackie & Son, [n.d. but preface dated July 1850]. 2 vols., folio (367 x 269mm.) Engraved decorative title, 135 engraved plates (100 on 50 double-page leaves). (Spotting and light browning.) Contemporary half-calf, spines in six compartments with raised gilt bands, morocco lettering piece in the second compartment, the fourth lettered in gilt (extremities bumped and scuffed, hinges reinforced). Provenance: from the estate of the late Michael Gilkes FRCS, FRCOphth., FRGS.
