FRANKLIN, John. Narrative of a Journey to the Shores of the Polar Sea… in the Years 1819-20-21-22. London: John Murray, 1824. 2 vols., second edition, 8vo (215 x 141mm.) 4 engraved folding maps at rear of vol. 2. (Spotting to several of the first and last leaves.) Contemporary half-calf, the spine in five compartments with raised bands, morocco lettering pieces to the second and fourth compartments, the others with elaborate gilt design (some loss to lettering piece of vol. 2, both upper joints split). Provenance: contemporary ink annotations to both vols. concerning the history of the books purchase, verso of front-free endpapers.
