PILKINGTON, James. A View of the Present State of Derbyshire... With an Account of its Most Remarkable Antiquities. Derby: J. Drewry, 1789. 2 vols., first edition, 8vo (215 x 139mm.) Folding map, 3 engraved plates (1 folding). (Small one inch tear to map, gift ink inscription to vol. 1.) Original diced calf, gilt borders, the spines in five compartments with raised bands, morocco lettering pieces to the second and fourth (missing one lettering piece to vol.1, front joint split to same volume, rubbing to extremities, repairs to spine covers). Provenance: Hubert Graves Archer (armorial bookplate to pastedowns).
