THACKERAY, William Makepeace. An Essay on the Genius of George Cruikshank… [extra illustrated edition]. London: George Redway, 1884. 4to (276 x 186mm.) Frontispiece, title replaced in manuscript facsimile, 38 illustrations, 128 extra illustrations at the rear, for most illustrations the dates and titles captioned underneath in pencil. (Spotting to preliminaries and to margins of one page at rear, browned to margins.) Contemporary red straight-grain morocco, by J. Larkin, the covers with triple fillet borders with foliate corners, the spine in six compartments with raised bands, lettered in gilt to second and third compartments and 'Extra illustrated 1810-1870' to the sixth (lightly bumped to extremities, slight rubbing to raised bands).
