First edition, 8vo (226 x 157mm.) 23 plates including frontispiece, tissue-guard, folding map to rear. (Light spotting to fore-edge.) Original brown cloth with pictorial gilt to upper cover and spine (bumped to extremities, finger-marks to covers). - And six further volumes about travel in Africa (including F.D. Lugard's 'The Rise of our East African Empire', 1893, 2 vols., first edition, 8vo). Provenance: Robert Milnes-Crewe (bookplate to front pastedowns); The West Horsley Place Collection (7).
