HOBSON, William Colling (publisher). This Map of Yorkshire is most respectfully dedicated to the Nobility, Clergy, Gentry, Landowners, and Manufacturers of the County. [or, Hobson's New Survey of Yorkshire] [London:] 1848. Engraved hand-coloured folding map in two parts (each part 1270 x 820mm.) Engraved by J. & C. Walker, each part in 16 sections and backed onto linen. (Minor offsetting.) Folding within original red cloth, the upper cover blocked in gilt and blind, metal clasp (extremities somewhat scuffed and frayed). Provenance: unidentified armorial bookplate with motto 'Anchora Tutissima Virtus'; Robert Milnes-Crewe (bookplate to front pastedown); The West Horsley Place Collection.
