A 17th/18th century Armada type wrought iron chest with typical elaborate locking mechanism, the hinged lid and sides with overall strapwork, the reserves painted with portraits, heraldic crests and coastal landscapes, the front fitted with latches and clasps flanking a central false lock plate, the sides with large swing handles, the interior with a lock cover plate painted with a pair of shields, foliage and a banner inscribed 'Holland-Zeeland', height 41cm, width 81cm, depth 44cm (cut-out section to base panel).
