SHELLEY, George Ernest, and William Lutley SCLATER. The Birds of Africa… Comprising all the Species Which Occur in the Ethiopian Region. London: R.H. Porter and Henry Sotheran, 1896-1912. 5 vols. in 7 parts, first editions, 8vo (278 x 186mm.) 57 hand-coloured lithographed plates after Henrik Grönvold. (Browning and light spotting to preliminaries of part 1 and 2 of volume 5, occasional pencil annotations.) Original red cloth, t.e.g. (bumped to extremities, some fraying to spine ends of volume 3, endpapers replaced to part 1 of volume 4). Note: W.L. Sclater helped to complete the final volume. Provenance: Lionel E. Taylor (ink name to the front endpapers) (7).
