London: Longmans, Green and Co., 1882. 3 vols. only (of 5), signed and dedicated by Thomas Brassey to half-title ('To the friend of his bosun, J.K.J. Hitchens, from the author…'), first edition, 8vo (236 x 146mm.) Numerous illustrations. (Spotting to preliminaries, label remains to preliminaries of volume 2, corner of p.xxxiii of volume 1 cut.) Original pictorial cloth (bumped to extremities, surface wear to rear cover of vol. 2). Provenance: J.K.J. Hitchens (bookplate to the front pastedown of vol. 1, vol. 2 with ex-library labels of 'Royal Naval College Library'). - And fifteen more naval related volumes (including a signed copy of Thomas Brassey's 'The Naval Annual', 1887, 8vo) (18).
