A Chinese Canton export ivory folding fan, mid to late 19th century, the guards carved in low relief with figures, pavilions and trees in village scenes, the fourteen sticks with similarly carved and pierced decoration, supporting a paper panel, one side painted with a pavilion and landscape, the reverse with a blue flower spray, length 30cm (tear to paper panel), within a fitted lacquer fan box with gilt decoration on a dark brown ground.
