A Chinese Canton carved export ivory 'King George' chess set, early 19th century, the Chinese side stained red, the Europeans left natural, the white king and queen as George III and Queen Charlotte, the bishops as Christian bishops, the knights as cavalrymen, the rooks as elephants and the pawns as foot soldiers, all raised on lotus carved circular bases, height of king 13cm (some faults).
