MURDOCH, Iris. - Reynolds STONE (illustrator). A Year of Birds. Tisbury, Wiltshire: Compton Press, 1978. 2 vols., limited edition, this number 21 of 50 copies, signed by the author and illustrator to vol. 1, 8vo (217 x 136mm.) 12 engraved illustrations to vol. 1, extra-suite of the engravings each mount initialled and numbered by Stone in pencil to vol. 2. (Small mark to the bottom edge of one mount.) Original brown cloth-backed marbled paper boards, or original brown cloth clamshell box (tiny marks to spine), within a single marbled-paper-covered slipcase. Note: this book was Iris Murdoch's first book of published poems, although in 1938, aged nineteen, she published four poems in a collection of poetry by Badminton school pupils in Bristol (2).
