A late 19th century Jaques 'In Statu Quo' patent mahogany cased travelling chess set, purportedly formerly owned by Henry George Liddell and used by Lewis Carroll, the interior with turned and carved bone playing pieces (one pawn missing), length of board 32cm, within its original dark green leather outer case. Note: this lot comes with an accompanying letter of provenance.
