LOT 3015
[WAKEFIELD, Patricia]. Letters on Entomology, intended For the Amusement and Instruction of Young Persons. London: Geo. B. Whittaker, 1825. First edition, 12mo (186 x 105mm.) 3 hand-coloured plates. (Heavy spotting pp.1-26, thereafter moderate, plates unaffected.) Later paper-backed boards (small loss to top of spine). Note: Patricia Wakefield (1751-1832) was a Quaker and philanthropist and author of over twenty books, including works on botany, insects and, in 1798, a work on feminism. - And eight more works on natural history (including Lt.-Col. H.R. Baker's 'Birds of Southern India', 1930, 8vo) (9).
