BIBLE, In English. Containing the Old Testament and the New, Newly Translated out of the Original Tongues and with the former translations diligently compared and revised by his Majesties Special command. London: 1683. General title, additional engraved title and initials, NT title, 6pp. of vellum leaves bound in with hand-written family entries from 1760 to 1942. (Paper margin reinforcement to A1-A6, browning, occasional spotting, front and rear blanks replaced.) [Bound with:] The Whole Book of Psalms. London: for the company of Stationers, 1679. (Spotting to rear leaves). Folio (368 x 224mm.) 19th century diced morocco with blind-tooled design to covers, five raised bands with gilt titling to second compartment, metal clasps and bosses, g.e. (rubbing to extremities). Provenance: Sarah and Thomas Maddison (first entry in ink to the vellum leaves), and thence by descent to John Edgar.
