MILTON, John. - Myles Birket FOSTER (illustrator). L'Allegro and Il Penseroso. London: David Bogue, 1855. First edition, folio (269 x 176mm.) Numerous steel-engraved vignettes. (Occasional spotting to margins.) Original blind-stamped cloth with gilt ornament to upper cover, g.e. (light rubbing to extremities). Provenance: Mary Lucas (gift inscription in ink to the front free endpaper). - And eleven more volumes of illustrated poetry (including Goethe's 'Faust' [n.d. but circa 1900.]) (12).
