BEWICK, Thomas. A History of British Birds. Newcastle: for T. Bewick, 1826. 2 vols., sixth edition, 8vo (218 x 129mm.) Numerous wood-engraved illustrations. (Spotting to front and rear leaves, first gathering of volume 1 loosening, bookplates to front pastedowns.) Contemporary calf with black morocco lettering pieces to the spines (crudely rebacked, rubbing). Note: this was the last edition self-published by Bewick. Provenance: John Pearson (ink name to titles). - And twenty-two more volumes on natural history (including F.O. Morris's 'A History of the British Butterflies', 1893, 8vo) (23).
