A Chinese Canton mother-of-pearl inlaid export lacquer rectangular work box, early 19th century, the hinged lid finely inlaid with a lake landscape of islets, pavilions, trees, gardens and figures within a keyfret border, the sides filled with fruiting vines and keyfret borders, all against a black ground, flanked by a pair of brass drop handles, the interior with a detachable compartmentalized tray, partially filled with carved ivory covers, sewing utensils and accoutrements, length 44cm (minor losses).
