[ADDISON, Joseph, and Richard STEELE.] The Spectator. London: Payne, Rivington, Davis, Longman, etc., [n.d. but circa 1790.] 8 vols., 8vo (178 x 100mm.) 8 engraved frontispieces. (Mild toning.) Contemporary marbled calf with red morocco lettering pieces to the spines (rubbed to extremities.) Note: complete with all 635 issues of the Spectator published in a first series by Steele between March and December 1712 and a second series by Addison between June and December 1714. Provenance: B. Sandford (ink name on front-free endpaper of volume 1). - And a further five volumes (including Tobias Smollet's 'The Adventures of Peregrine Pickle', 4 vols., 1776) (13).
