AFRICA. - David LIVINGSTONE. Missionary Travels and Researches in South Africa. London: John Murray, 1857. First edition, 8vo (213 x 128mm.) Folding plate of the Victoria Falls, 2 folding maps, including 1 by John Arrowsmith at rear, 23 plates including the author's portrait, numerous illustrations in the text. (Browning, occasional spotting.) Near contemporary red morocco, elaborate gilt to covers, five raised bands to spine, lettering to second compartment, repeating gilt to the rest, g.e. Provenance: Herbert Druitt (ink name to verso of front-free endpaper). - And three further volumes relating to Africa (including Henry M. Stanley's 'In Darkest Africa', 1890, 8vo) (4).
