MANUSCRIPT. - CHROMATICS. [A Hand-written manuscript written by David Ramsay Hay for the fourth edition of his book 'The Laws of Harmonious Colouring'. Edinburgh, 1838]. 47pp. manuscript, 8vo (241 x 195mm.) The unnumbered pages begin with an introduction and then four subsequent chapters on chromatics, colour theory and the analogy between colour and sound with sketches of the illustrations to be used, also includes in another hand 56pp. of legal indentures and contracts and a further 50pp. journal on poultry and poultry keeping dated 1852 and with numerous tipped-in illustrations relating to the birth of chicks, from the foetus onwards, and some printed excerpts relating to poultry bound-in. (Some notes and diagrams in ink and pencil to the pastedowns and preliminaries, browning within.) Contemporary half-calf (lacking spine).
