GILLRAY, James. The Genuine Works of James Gillray, Engraved by Himself. London: Thomas M'Lean, 1829. 1 vol. (of 2), folio (590 x 419mm.) Portrait frontispiece of Gillray, title page with engraved vignette, 276 engraved and etched caricatures printed back to back on 146 leaves. (Browning, minor soiling, damp-stain to upper margins, frontispiece laid-down, marginal paper repair to one leaf.) Later red half-morocco, gilt lettering to spine, g.e. (replaced endpapers). Note: normally dated 1830 on the title page, this copy is dated 1829. Provenance: Worthing Public Library (bookplate to the front pastedown, small circular stamp to leaf margins).
