Original purple cloth with gilt vignette of the plate 'Prisoner of Nchogo' to upper cover, gilt lettering to spine (some sunning to spine, bumped to spine ends). Note: the letter reads 'Dear Mrs Muller, luck seems to turn against me. On my return this evening from a dinner party I found your kind letter and invitation to come and spend Sunday at Ridge-hurst waiting for me. Unfortunately I have a previous engagement to go and spend Sunday in the country, nothing could have delighted me more than to come and to pay you a visit and meet Miss McMurdo, alas I cannot do it.
