RELIGION. - Zachary PEARCE. Sermons on Several Subjects, published from the Original Manuscripts by John Derby. London: G. Robinson, 1778. 4 vols., 8vo (210 x 121mm.) Engraved portrait frontispiece to volume 1. (Toning.) Contemporary calf, black morocco lettering pieces to the second and third compartments of spines, repeating gilt design to the rest (rubbing to extremities, minor loss to the lettering pieces). Note: Pearce also wrote works on Cicero, and, towards the end of Isaac Newton's life, he helped him with chronology. Provenance: George Paulson (ink name on the f.f.e.p.); Kezia Wells (gift inscribed in ink on the f.f.e.p.) (4).
