POWELL-COTTON, Major P.H.G. In Unknown Africa. London: Hurst and Blackett, 1904. First edition, 8vo (221 x 136mm.) Half-title, title in red and black, 29 plates, 2 in colour, numerous photographic illustrations in the text, 2 folding maps. (Toning, several circular ownership stamps, including to maps, small closed tear to p.45, finger-mark to p.14.) Original black cloth, pictorial gilt, g.e. (rubbing to spine ends). Provenance: W.A.W. Lawson (nameplate to the front pastedown); Admiralty, Whitehall (small circular stamps within).
